Being Myself

The week started at a wonderrfffuuulll note :) :) :)
I had my aunt (mausi) and uncle coming over at my place after a loonng time.. So had lotsa fun with them..
Apart from that, I had a lovely Monday morning :)
I distinctly remember feeling very pleased and content as I stepped out that morning and I exclaimed- "What a nice, fine morning it is". Needless to say that set the pace for the day and the events that followed were really beautiful :)
But the next day, i.e Tuesday, it was a bit different. It wasn't that anything untoward had happened to me, but it was just that I was feeling peaceful within and in a sublime state of mind. It remained so for the first few hours. In this period, I seldom talked and did none of my goof-ups which I usually do. But later I tried to forcibly carry that somber mood. And, since that wasn't my natural state of mind it kinda backfired. Feeling of resentment and frustration had slowly began to take over. I went home, took a nice nap and then it felt as if everything was fine. I did my routine work, but something wasn't right. I had some minor health issues and I ignored them too.

Then today I guess the bubble finally burst. Was not in too much of a contemplative mood I say. But again, in order to appear as a composed and a more mature  individual, I tried to wear the visage of calmness. As, I truly believe (and I am sure, many of my readers too) a man's thoughts are reflected in his/her environment.
Your circumstances are just a mirror of what you are feeling. I returned early, studied a bit, took a nap (the mundane things). And then I switched on the PC. The artificial me had carried a bit too far now.
Suddenly, out of nowhere a person's status (no people, that person is not my "crush" or "best friend") just absolutely disrupted me. He is a person, who seldom updates his status, is a good friend of mine and the status was the perfect kind which pushes me into my periodic spells of incessant thinking and worrying; completely lost my (self-presumed) good mood all of a sudden.

Then I realized, that the real reason for it wasn't that guy, to be truthful the status has no mention of me, and the poor chap wasn't even thinking about me while posting it. No, not even my OCD (Obsessive Compulsive Disorder) of too much thinking had much to do with it. But it was because I wasn't my usual self. I was trying to be someone who I am not. By doing this, not only was I not feeling good myself, but also giving vibes to people around me that either something is wrong with me or the person looking like Jayant is not like me at all, but someone like an impostor.. Consequently, I attracted those situations to myself..

The bottom-line of this rant is- We all dislike something or the other about ourselves and try to change it. But we seldom realize that people who love us will love us nonetheless (I hate clarifying again and again, but the love I mentioned just now isn't strictly about the boy-girl kind) By not being ourselves, we deny the fact that we are good and lovable. Now, you only tell me who would love a person who doesn't like himself??
Just be yourself, try not to hurt others but never ever try to "act" as someone who you are not.. Getting rid of vices is one thing and 'trying' to become an epitome of mankind is another..

LOVE :)

Problems! Problems! Everywhere

All of us have problems. Starting from our own selves to our parents, our friends, the CEO of a FORTUNE 500 companies, the grocer who sells you your vegetables to the guy who collects our garbage and so on.
My last post was about how to overcome it by losing yourself into work and blah blah and all that..
But before all that, wait a second. That one was just to make you feel better when you are not amongst the thick of things. What if the problem is related to your life? Something you have messed. It may be as petty a thing as getting less marks in a term exam or grave ones such as your girlfriend getting pregnant (and if it isnt coz of you, even a bigger problem ;) ) or maybe you are going through a hard time with people around you..

Almost invariably we blame the circumstances and then ourselves in such situations, the order may differ. After we have brooded & cried (generally for girls) a lot over it we tend to search for someone to console us. To lend us their shoulders to cry on, either literally or figuratively and then we turn to our friends, in some cases bf/gf, and a common term nowadays BFF (Best Friend Forever). But more often than not we find that instead of ameliorating, the problem seems to worsen. It seems that we have committed a blunder that even God will not forgive us. And then we do all kinds of stupid things like going into depression, trying to harm oneself and in rare cases- SUICIDE..

Why??? This case is NOT limited to only a single individual, almost all of us have suffered from these condition.. And then in disappointment we later blame those close ones for not having hung through our rough times..

Its been such a long post without development and you might be wondering, why is this guy ranting so much? Someone has rightly said that- Our problem is never really our problem. Our reaction to the problem is really our problem . Many of the problems are either entirely the creation of our mind or have been complicated by excessive thinking about them. I am not saying all problems are farce and non-sense. But almost 80% of them aren't as bad as we make them out to be.

Secondly, we try to negate our feelings. We believe its wrong to be hurt and broken and then try to act as if nothing has happend. We try to be STRONG.. Never even for once do we think of our poor heart which needs love.. NO NOT THAT GIRLFRIEND/BOYFRIEND LOVE which caused the problem in first place..
It needs our own love.. We need to reassure it, that all is fine..
We need to understand and accept the fact that it is OK to be hurt and we can always rise again.

Lastly, we are too dependent on others.. Ya, you heard it right. Its often the so called loved ones who complicate issues.. It doesnt mean that they dont love us, but neither can they hide behind the veneer - "Intentions were right but they didnt know how to express them." When a person is hurt, he/she doesnt need a solution. Even though several sources might tell you this applies only to girl, its my own experience that even a guy needs only someone to listen and console him when he is upset and not offer solutions.
But does this mean we remain alone and allow ourselves to fester ourselves?? Or do we go to our well intentioned but less equipped (to handle such situations) BFFs or whatever you call them.
This becomes a bit tricky here. The answer is NO to both.

The possible alternative is no quick fix solution but like all good things a gradual one- You'll have to identify the people in your life who are good at listening and don't judge. They might not be your BFF or ones whom you often hangout with but sometimes the people whom you never really considered to be Very close you.
You might have them in your life or may recognize them when you pass through tough times..

Had it been 20th century I would have safely suggested you to talk to your parents, but given the growing ambitions of the middle class parents. I don't think they are that much understanding now at the early stages of a problem.
Having said that I am lucky to have a parent who can listen to me without judging.. :)

If nothing works out then you always have the universal healer TIME- (no not the CAT coaching).. But sometimes if wounds are not treated early, they might leave deep scars.

Maybe I wasn't too precise and a tad too long in this one.. But, it was the best I could manage on such a complex topic
Hope it helps some people :)

Lives, Loves and Losses

So, finally after 2 days of an unprecedented stretch of depression, worry and blues, I am back to normal :) :)
The last two days were perhaps the worst days of my life in a loong time. I was worried, not for a silly reason, but a grave one and it took some time for me to recover. And as always, when I go into such saddening thoughts, I find more reasons to make my life appear fucked up even when its absolutely fine. Of course, there were reasons which helped me recoup faster- My Blogger Friend ;) and a good night's sleep :) :)
But the main poultice is the one I am going to talk about in this post..

You know a famous philosopher once said- "It hurts only if you think" :) The best way to cope with any damn issue which is pressing your mind or is worrying you is to lose yourself. Some try to do it by harmful means such as smoking, drinking or even drugs. But no, the best way is to stop thinking about it..
How to do it?? Engage your mind else where, go hangout with your friends, call them up, watch a movie, listen to songs (or even sing some) :)
If your thoughts are positive, the world around you will gradually align itself to them.
Mind you, these are not empty words. My depression was for a very serious issue involving someone very close, the more I thought of it, the worse my life would seem. Nothing worked such as meditation or keeping quiet or something..
The best way, lose yourself, engage yourself and if nothing works
SLEEP!!
Thats the best way to deal with any issue i.e going out of hands.. ;)

The Ultimate Truth

I write this post in a grief-stricken mood. My best friend's mother passed away last night, and that too at such a time when it seemed that she'd be fine soon,, :'( :'( I am crying in my heart for the past 2 hours (when I came to know about it). And, incase you read this at any point of your life (which you will perhaps after quite a while), I just wanted to say that I am with you, if not physically then with all my thoughts and love and heart!!
I was shocked for 5 minutes, too dumbfounded to think straight as the thought drove through my mind.. Its true I never knew her, but the way my friend mentioned her, it was plainly clear that she was lovely, kindly woman. Just like all mothers are.. RIP Aunty. I continue praying for your soul (quite literally and not just as a figure of speech).

Suddenly this brought to me into thinking about something I do and yet I dont- Death. I used to question when people close to me passed away until I started meditating. Even this quote from Tolkien made quite an impact on me-
“Many that live deserve death. And some that die deserve life. Can you give it to them? Then do not be too eager to deal out death in judgement. For even the very wise cannot see all ends.”

But thats not all, I thought for the first time, in many years, about my death of someone very close to me-
MYSELF!!

(P.S- Please don't bother asking why I added this pic on this post, only one person can recognize it and if he/she doesn't then no one can)
It wasn't a suicidal thought (so, no need to panick), but in a reflective way. What will happen, if I die? Will I be remembered as someone who was a jerk? Or someone with a razor sharp mind but an insensitive heart?
Frankly, I dont even care what people think because I wont be there to listen to them. The more important is, what will I take away with me when I die? Money? Property? Mobile Phones, Laptops, SLRs? Not even clothes!!
In an absolutely different context which people have heard it, I quote the Shrimad BhagvadGita here-

खाली हाथ आए और खाली हाथ चले। जो आज तुम्हारा है, कल औ  किसी का था, परसों किसी और का होगा। तुम इसे अपना समझ कर मग्न हो रहे हो।

I now seriously think that my priorities in life need to be redefined.. Not for the fear of death, but for the fact that love, relationships and constant remembrance of the source, the almighty is much more important than any other earthy things...
Amen!!

On a solemn note
Signing off!!

Hungry!!!

So, after a not-so-bad midsems, am finally free. Initially did chill out by watching Agneepath (sorry, but its not worth a review) but now since the hubbub has died out and I have rested my aching muscles, I am back to square one.

The College, (as per expectations) is quite bland. Nothing much happening and even the CSC Project has no development as for now. Consequently I am left with a situation where I don't have anything to do. Even though I am focusing on my academics, its absolutely impossible for me to study within a week of the end of exams. I have had an outing with most of my friends (and also a couple of one hour calls with my best friend). Facebook has always bored me and I can no longer be hooked to the internet for a long stretch. Neither do I have any good books at hand which I might read to kill time. In short, I am getting bored and dont have many things to beat it. Forgot to mention, but I ain't too much of a movie freak.

I am somewhat similar to Sherlock Holmes. (No, I am not even close to a super sleuth who solves murder mysteries) I always need to do something to keep my mind busy, either its books or some game or studies or sports so that I can remain engaged mentally. Otherwise I feel hungry and starved, mentally.
Last night I told my friend (who is one of the few intellectually equipped friends I have) the same thing.
I am not a workaholic by any means. And some of the things that I wish to do are unfeasible due to some personal reasons. So here I am ranting all that I feel on to my blog, which I know no one gives a damn about.
(Aru, Deepak- ignore the last part)

I am frustrated and irritated to some extent too!! I hope things improve and become more rosy (in both implications of the meaning ;) ;) )

The Road not taken

First a big hug and a warm and loving thanks to my friend Aru who has a lovely blog called ...Capturin' Life.
I thank her for nominating me for an award called "Kreative Blogger Award"..
But I politely refuse to take the award. Its partly because I don't consider myself good enough since there are many talented bloggers waiting for recognition..
And secondly it has a couple of clauses I wasn't too comfortable with. Firstly I wanted to nominate 6 names for  passing on the creative blogger award. In my eyes there are hardly 3. Secondly, It required me to post 10 things about me which others don't know. And this is a hard thing.
I am very very grateful to the few people who take their time off Facebook/Twitter and other exciting things on the net and access my blog. Despite this, the blog essentially remains a canvass for my creativity. I always try to keep the topics relevant, but if I don't feel like writing about something, I don't.
There are things about me which are open for all.. Anyone can know about them and many of them do. But, I like to keep somethings private.. If it is not known to people, I want it to remain so.
So, as for now, I fail to comply with the two conditions for the award and hence consider myself ineligible.
I know some of you maybe shocked and even disillusioned (to be frank, I know this blog isn't read by more than 2-3 persons) but that is the way this turns out for now..
LOVE
